2009 Youth Football Player Academy

 

 

What is the YSA Football Player Academy?

The Youth Sports Alliance Football Player Academy is a series of developmental Mini Camps, created for youth athletes ages 7 to 14 with a minimum of one year experience. Our football player academy model was created to teach the fundamental skills of offense and defense, opening the door for each player to have the opportunity to improve form, technique and raw skills related to playing offense and defense. 

 

YSA Football Player Academy participants will be instructed by experienced local high school coaches, top area youth coaches and special guest college coaches. We stress fundamentals, form and technique with our focus on quality instruction for each and every youth athlete in a extremely fun atmosphere.
We not only hope to teach them skills to make them better football players, we hope to stimulate their general interest in the sport of football.

This will include an emphasis on life skills such as good work habits, self-discipline and motivation.

 

General Information

The Football Player Academy will be held at local area state of the art high school and college faclilities. Player participants will need to bring a helmet, shoulder pads, cleats or gym shoes, and a mouth guard. Player participants will be given one official academy practice jersey, t-shirt and shorts during registration. Please inform the academy director if your child needs a helmet and shoulder pads prior to completing the registration process.

 

Our coach to player ratio will be no less than one coach per 12 players. Our coaching staff will stress the perseverance, discipline, work ethic, and dedication needed to achieve one's maximum potential.

 

The 3 day mini camp will be beneficial to your childs' development in the game of football, in a extremely fun atmosphere.

 

Player Participant Position Selection

Novice, Rookie and Junior player participants will select one offensive position and one defensive position. Player participants QB - Quarterback, RB - Running Back, WR -  Wide Reciever, TE -  Tight End, OL/DL -  Offensive/Defensive Lineman, LB - Linebacker, DB -  Defensive Back. 

 

 

Player Participant Age Format

Player participants will be grouped by age as follows:

 

  • Novice: 7 years old to 9 years old
  • Rookies: 10 years old to 11 years old
  • Juniors: 12 years old to 14 years old

OFFENSIVE & DEFENSIVE DRILLS AND TECHNIQUES
The coaching staff will emphasize fundamentals, form, and proper technique. Player participants will learn how to correctly play the positions they choose. Our staff will stress the perseverance, discipline, work ethic, and dedication needed to achieve one's maximum potential.

 

Quarterbacks

Emphasis on fundamentals; stance, exchange, footwork, ball work, 3 step drop, 5 step drop, rollouts, passing drills and basic reads.

 

Running Backs

Emphasis on teaching proper running back position skills. Fundamentals and technique work, stance, start, ball drills, hole reads, blocking and more.

 

Wide Recievers/Tight Ends

Emphasis on teaching proper position skills. Fundamentals and technique work, stance, start, route running. ball drills, blocking and more.

 

Offensive/Defensive Line

Emphasis on teach proper offensive and defensive line position skills. Fundamentals and technique work in all facets of balance, proper stance and explosive starts and blocking principles.

 

Linebackers

Emphasis on teaching proper linebacker position skills, balance, reads, stance and explosive starts. Body positioning and proper pad level.

 

Defensive Backs

Emphasis on teaching proper defensive back position skills, balance, stance and back pedal technique. Ball drills and strip drills.

 

Special Guest Speakers

Guest speaker topics will include: Abuse of alcohol and drugs, taking responsibility for your actions, the legal consequences of illegal acts, how to be positive role models, and the importance of education and being a good student athlete.
